1 . Superheroes in the 1700s
When evil strikes deep in the heart of the Caribbean, the world needs heroes - and Kaie Ellinger and Curtis Reynolds serve as just that. Between Curtis's super strength and Kaie's trained archer skills and developing psychic powers, they make the perfect "mismatched" team for defeating 'The Dark Warrior.'
2. Super Villains in the 1700s
Edward Beckett is a bad guy who is so unhinged that he would make Thor's brother Loki look sane. And from his knife skills, ability to manipulate objects with his mind and recent acquisition of 'The Shadow's Relic' (a treasure with unspeakable powers) it seems the world and anyone in his way is in for a whole lot of trouble.
3. Fighting the End of the World . . . with Muskets
Every so often a good story comes out where the heroes must save the world by putting together the world's latest technology. Well, in The Shadow's Relic, the latest technology just so happens to be flintlock muskets and old cannons mounted to the front of ships.
4. Zombies, 'Death Angels' and Sirens!
To make matters even worse, Curtis and Kaie aren't just dealing with any old "end of the world scenario." Nope. In fact this world is (obviously) an alternate, fictional early American universe where Zombies, Death Angels and Sirens exist. In the very beginning of the book its stated that Sirens even had a long (and clearly bad) history with mankind. So not only do these terrifying creatures exist, but to some extent have already shaped the history of this fictional universe.
5. It's Pretty Much Guardian's of the Galaxy set in the Caribbean
Oh and with pirates.
