We all know trying to write an entire manuscript isn't easy. There's the writing process, the editing process, the RE-editing process then weeks or even months of trying to get it published (unless you self-publish).
But the perks and benefits of being an author (whether you sell a million books or only a few dozen) completely outweigh any down sides.
That being said, here are:

That being said, here are:
1. You Keep Your Own Schedule
I've recommended doing it when you first wake up or the first thing you do after work, but you can use any schedule that fits your life, so long as it gets the job done.
And you can write just about anywhere. You can do it at home, at the office, on vacation or anywhere outdoors that might inspire you. So just like writing gives you your freedom to create, it also gives you this freedom and option of mobility that not many other jobs or hobbies have.

2. Your Ideas Come To Life
This is one of the greatest perks about being an author, especially if you're into fantasy or sci-fi and you have all these ideas bouncing around in your head. And not only do you get to see your ideas come to life and, but when you get published you get to show everyone your ideas.
Yes, this can be a little scary at first, but when people start getting joy and excitement and feeling inspired by your stories, it's just a great feeling

3. It's Exciting
Whether your first book gets published or not, the entire process and uncertainty is actually pretty exciting. And even if you don't sell a million books, just selling five or having a few people who've read it come up to you and start quoting your novel or describing their favorite part is just really awesome and makes it all worth it.
4. You Can Be Yourself
Many people who write will describe the process as therapeutic. When you write you are letting your inner most self shine through. You are not only releasing stress, frustrations and grievances through your own characters, but you are also setting free your ideas, your passions and your creativities.
Writing lets you BE you.
It's a creative outlet, relaxing hobby and an emotional punching bag, at times, when you're feeling extra frustrated about things.

5. Your Readers
Other than for your own enjoyment, you're second biggest reason to write should be for your fans. And yes, they bring the money in and allow you to make a living off your writing, but you should write for MORE than just money.
I think the fact you can inspire people and let people feel these different emotions when they read your work is the greatest honor you can receive People are entertained by you. People get joy from reading the ideas and stories you've put down on paper. People are letting your ideas become part of their imagination.
That's pretty huge.
